Book Week, PNG style
Today was my first proper day back at school, and well-timed, as it was the last day of Book Week, and the day when the girls were asked to dress up. My delightful 10P girls came as Snow White and the 7 Dwarves (unbenownst to me - I had also thrown together a very last-minute Snow White outfit to wear this morning, pulling out an apple and mirror and painting my lips red - I figured being the white chick I already had fairest of them all covered!). The girls had us in stitches, with this group from my class in particular getting totally into it, Eunice (Doc) proving herself once again to be a total ham as she introduced the characters from her group on stage at today's Book Week parade.
Each dwarf then told the crowd their name, in character, and they were hilarious (although I'm sure Sleepy should have been Drunk, and Lazy should have been Dirty, and basically all of them could have been Dopey!!) Never again will I believe the shy act that these girls put on in class. I was in tears laughing along with the rest of the school, and so certain they'd win I didn't bother going with the rest of the teachers to vote - instead I stayed with all the contestants to take their photos (that way too I couldn't be accused of bias for my own class when they did in fact get first prize!).
A good day to come back.
